Privacy Policy
How Muave collects, uses, and protects your information — in plain language.
Muave is operated by Parity Ventures LLC ("Muave," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Muave mobile application and this website (together, the "Service"), how we use and share it, and the rights and choices you have.
Muave is built for honest, intentional connection — and that starts with being honest about your data. The short version: we collect what we need to run the app, we never sell your data, and you can permanently delete your account and everything associated with it at any time, right in the app.
1. Information we collect
We collect the following information, most of which you provide directly when creating and using your profile:
- Account information. Your email address and name, provided when you sign up (including via Sign in with Apple or Google sign-in).
- Profile information. Your profile photos, bio, age, interests, and a location you type in yourself. Muave does not collect GPS or precise device location — your location on Muave is only ever what you choose to write.
- Identity and orientation information. Muave asks about your identity and sexual orientation, and your preferences around kids and co-parenting, because that is what the app matches on. This is sensitive information, and we treat it that way: it is collected with your explicit consent, used only to operate matching and show your profile to compatible members, and never used for advertising or sold to anyone.
- Messages. The chat messages you send and receive with your matches.
- Activity. Your in-app activity, such as profiles you like or pass on, your matches, and the members you block, unmatch, or report.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Operate the Service — create and display your profile, power swipe discovery and mutual matching, and deliver your private messages.
- Personalize your experience — suggest compatible members based on your identity, family preferences, values, and interests, and generate optional AI-assisted icebreaker suggestions based on what you and a match have in common.
- Keep the community safe — enforce our Terms of Service, review reports, act on blocks, prevent abuse and spam, and protect members from harm.
- Communicate with you — send service messages such as match notifications, security notices, and responses to your support requests.
- Comply with law — meet our legal obligations and respond to lawful requests where required.
We do not use your information for third-party advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles about you.
3. AI-assisted icebreakers
Muave's icebreaker feature suggests conversation starters when you match with someone. To generate a suggestion, limited relevant information (such as shared interests listed on both profiles) is processed by our AI service provider. These providers process data on our behalf under contract, only to provide this feature, and are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes. Icebreaker suggestions are always optional — you choose whether to send, edit, or ignore them.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we never will. We share limited information only in these circumstances:
- With other members. Your profile (photos, name, age, bio, typed location, interests, and the partnership preferences you choose to display) is visible to other Muave members as part of discovery and matching. Your messages are visible to the match you send them to.
- With service providers. We share the minimum data necessary with providers who help us operate the Service: payment processing (handled by Apple for in-app purchases), AI conversation-starter generation, and authentication via Sign in with Apple or Google sign-in. These providers are bound by contract to protect your data and use it only to provide services to us.
- For legal reasons. If required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our members, the public, or Muave.
- Business transfers. If Muave is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
5. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, photos, matches, messages, and associated data are permanently deleted from our production systems. Limited records may be retained for a short period afterward where necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our Terms, or maintain the integrity of safety actions (for example, so that a blocked or banned user cannot immediately evade a block by re-registering).
6. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and secure infrastructure. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your data and will notify you and the relevant authorities of any breach as required by law. You can help by using a strong, unique password and keeping your sign-in credentials private.
7. Your rights and choices
You are in control of your information:
- Access and update. You can view and edit your profile information at any time in the app.
- Delete. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data in the app via Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
- Request a copy. You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you by contacting us at legal@muave.app.
- Withdraw consent. Where processing is based on consent (such as sensitive identity information used for matching), you can withdraw it by editing or deleting the relevant information, or by deleting your account.
Depending on where you live (for example, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California), you may have additional rights, such as the rights to object to processing, to data portability, or to non-discrimination for exercising your rights. To exercise any right, contact us at legal@muave.app — we respond to all legitimate requests within the timeframes required by applicable law.
8. Children
Muave is for adults only. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a member is under 18, we will terminate the account and delete its data. If you believe someone under 18 is using Muave, please report the profile in-app or contact us at legal@muave.app.
9. International users
Muave is operated from the United States, and your information is processed and stored on servers that may be located outside your country of residence. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email before the changes take effect, and we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
